Through drama and creativity we help empower young people to use their voice and be heard.

From the House of Commons to the Scottish Independence Referendum the 2015 General Election and the EU Referendum, #Emilymatters was there.

Bringing people together, to celebrate how far we have come and to empower a new generation to use their voice and be heard is central to the #Emilymatters initiative.

#EMILYMATTERS  OUTREACH

Our outreach work includes performances, talks, speeches and To Freedom’s Cause.

For this year’s celebration of Emily Davison’s birthday and the UN’s Day of the Girl, #Emilymatters teamed up with the charity PAWA London, who promote teenage girls’ education in Asia.

I created a brand new immersive version of  To Freedom’s Cause, created specifically for the venue, which was the suffragette head quarters in London.

The above clip, filmed during the performance, is a moment during a scene between Emily and her Mam at home in Longhorsley, Northumberland.

Thank you to everyone who came, who took part and who supported this exciting new endeavour! I hope to bring the performance back and to develop its interactive content to bring in even more people into this story that we are all part of.

Please do follow PAWA London and support their innovative work to support teenage girls education in Asia.

This year it has been a great privilege to have worked with a range organisations and grassroots groups, including Macclesfield’s Barnaby Festival and the UK Civil Service Suffrage Centenary flag launch in Westminster.

The #Emilymatters Outreach work continues to develop, from Public Speaking, interactive performances to workshops and campaigning. If you would like to find out more, please get in touch (see contact details below).

It’s important that we celebrate the progress made, but I believe that phenomenal women like Emily, Mary Leigh and their suffrage sisters are calling us to keep on, to listen to others with opposing views and to make the case for a fairer and more inclusive world.
